Here’s a recipe for fried cabbage ¹ ²:

Ingredients:

  • 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, cored and chopped into 1-inch pieces
  • 6 slices of bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Cook the bacon in a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat until browned, about 10 minutes.
  2. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. Add the onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add the cabbage, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper to the skillet.
  5. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cabbage is tender and lightly browned.
  6. Return the bacon to the skillet and stir into the cabbage.
