Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh okra, sliced into rounds
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup plant-based milk (such as soy milk or almond milk)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Add the plant-based milk to the dry ingredients and stir until the batter is smooth.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or a deep fryer.
- Dip each slice of okra into the batter, shaking off any excess.
- Carefully place the battered okra slices into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried okra from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to remove any excess oil.
