This delicious Garlic Naan recipe is super easy to put together. It requires no yeast, no eggs and can be made on a hot skillet or tawa.


  • 2 Cup Plain Flour + a little more for dusting
  • 1 Cup Yogurt
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tbsp+ 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 5 cloves garlic finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic finely chopped


In a large mixing bowl, add flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar & salt and give it a good mix.
In another bowl, prepare a wet mix by mixing yogurt, garlic, 2Tbsp melted butter and stir.
Melt the remaining 2 Tbsp of Butter in low flame and add finely chopped garlic. Allow it to simmer for 2 minutes. Turn off the flame and set it aside.
There are 2 ways to knead.
Using a stand mixer, attach the dough hook and knead the dough to obtain a soft and supple dough. This can take 2 minutes approximately.
The other way is to knead the dough by hand. Add a gradual stream of wet mixture to the dry and continue kneading until you obtain a soft & smooth dough. Kneading the dough for 5-6 minutes will make sure the dough is supple.

Cover the naan bread dough with a damp towel and allow it to rest for 60-90 minutes . The dough will tend to rise a bit.
After an hour, divide the dough into equal portions. Heat a non stick skillet/ lava .
How to make No Yeast Garlic Naan?
In the mean while.. gently roll the dough into circle/ oval – any shape as desired to atleast 0.5 cm thickness.
Brush the top of the naan with water. Remember to place the wet side on the hot tava. Cover with a lid and cook for 1½ minutes { 90 sec approximately }. You should start seeing bubbles on the top.
Its time to flip the nan with a turner. Allow it to cook for 30 seconds.
Remove from flame and brush the garlic nan with melted garlic butter. Sprinkle some coriander leaves.
Store the Naan’s in a casserole or keep them wrapped in a warm towel. Gently warm them before serving.
This garlic Naan tastes best when served hot.
