Ingredients
- 1 baguette
- 4 large cloves crushed garlic
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 5 tbsp (1/3 cup) plant-based butter (margarine)
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- ¼ cup vegan parmesan or mozzarella (optional)
- Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 390F (200C) or 350F Fan (180C Fan). Slice the baguette at one-inch intervals.
- Mix all the other ingredients together including the vegan parmesan if using. If using mozzarella, slice thinly and add in between the bread slices after applying the garlic mixture.
- Using a teaspoon, slightly spread two slices and drop a spoonful of the mixture in, rubbing it around with the back of the spoon.
- Spoon leftover buttery garlic mix on top of the baguette.
- Wrap in aluminum foil, tenting and folding the foil at the top of the garlic bread so that it’s touching the bottom and sides of the baguette but not the top.
- Bake for ten minutes.
- Remove and allow to cool enough to handle. Serve!
- Notes
- If you’d like your garlic bread a bit crispier or browner (especially if the baguette was slightly underdone to begin with), then simply open the foil to expose the top and sides of the baguette and pop back in at the same temperature for up to five minutes max (five minutes will give you a very very brown bread so do keep an eye on it).
